Self-sufficient Rural Living Wayanad, India

The demand in Waynad for simple affordable living units counts 68,000. We are responsible for proposing a regional coordinated planning concept. Instead of individual buildings we all must think in clusters. The community will benefit from rainwater harvesting, energy production, waste management, biogas plants, short access routes, cost savings through building repetitions and execution process at the same time.

A cluster consists of 10 to 16 houses, 20 to 30 clusters operate a school, 40 to 60 clusters get a health center. A transport system connects the clusters. Planning involves the community and government agencies.

Wayanad lies in the Waster Ghats, which has the highest quality of biodiversity. The global interest is that this quality is not destroyed. That’s the reason that sustainable settlement development is important.
