Everybody dreams of living in an individual home, however in cities like Bangalore, with nine million inhabitants, it’s impossible to fulfill such dreams. Typically in the city, individual houses are built on 40ft x 60ft(single), 80ft x 60ft(double), and 120ft x 60ft (triple) sites.
This building is an attempt to combine the benefits of single homes and apartments, to create society housing, stacking of independent homes into a single residential block. ‘L’ shaped slabs in split levels are stacked one above the other. The lower floor in each unit has the kitchen, dining, and living spaces. The upper floor is connected through an internal staircase and consists of bedrooms, and toilets. This allows for the living space to be more transparent to the outside and a double-height space is achieved. Each unit is unique and designed to suit different needs- some have internal courtyard space, as a result of the split-level system. The hierarchy for privacy and functions is taken care of by the levels created.
The quality of spaces, light, and experience is light and positive.
