URBAN DEVELOPMENT CHENNAI, INDIA

The target for planning this was to achieve the highest quality of living with the highest permissible density. Urban density is a crucial aspect of developing cities. It is however quite challenging to provide a good quality of life for the inhabitants.

The whole area is divided into three zones: business zone, high-income zone, and low-income zone. The business zone consisted of meeting and convention spaces, hotels, service-apartments along with leisure pockets with shops, restaurants, gyms, lounges, considering the IT workers as primary user group here.

In the high-income zones, each building is a combination of high standard apartments with flexible living space concepts. E.g. split-level apartments are adaptable to growing and shrinking families. Between the towers, there is an artificial landscaped area underneath which is an underground parking space.

The low-income zone consists of simple housing units with in-between spaces that can be used flexibly.
