4 February 15 | Art & Design |Excursion with the Bern University of the Arts across three cities, to understand the art and design scene in the Indian context. The context of ÒeducationÓ and ÒproductionÓ was evident during the advanced educational journey. We explored Mumbai-cultures through the filter of art culture, met artists, visited artist colonies and several galleries. Bangalore – impressions, understanding the economical, political and social aspects of India, to get a contemporary impression of situations in India. We concluded at Kochi Biennale, perfect ending to the trip Ð the exhibition exploring the concept of time, several Indian and international artists rounded up our rich cultural Indian experience!

Real Estate Study and Management – Coorg Region

Thesis students from Bern University of Applied Sciences work in collaboration with IN:CH architects and planners to assess to potential region of Coorg for joint collaboration and investment from India and Switzerland and make a strategic plan for the above.

The students study various tourism models in the region and work for four months to arrive at a strategic plan and design.

The panel speakers, Toyo Ito-Japan , Ton Venhoeven-Netherlands , Priya Joseph-India , Juerg Grunder-Switzerland. Juerg Grunder and IN:CH team was invited to make a presentation of studio work at Tokyo at the World Architecture Congress 2011, Tokyo | Toyo Ito, Ton Venhoeven, Juerg Grunder spoke about their work. The IN:CH presentation was about the work done by students of IN:CH studio and office in Bangalore. About the transcultural work done in Bangalore and sustainable architecture for 2050.

A group of friends from Switzerland came as a delegation to join the wedding. All of them had joined IN:CH Studio in 2011.

Malur – Rural Housing Project

We were approached by an NGO for implementing sustainable model housing in Karnataka. This project was conceptualised at IN:CH and was worked on by thesis students from Bern University of Applied Sciences. We are now in the process of realising a prototype at the village with improvisation of the initial concept. For that our first steps are to visit the site with the local NGO, Belaku and find a suitable beneficiary.

swissnex India supports the collaboration with other partners who include Bern University of Applied Sciences, IISc and IN:CH architects and planners to create a prototype house and a new building material. The collaboration is in process.

We also look forward to work with Belaku, a local NGO and Mrinmayee, consultants for mud-based technology to start work at site.

Mysore 10 Acres: It is a project site with coconut trees in strong grids. This beautiful site has to be designed to provide 130 houses while saving all the trees.

After working in Ahmedababd on typologies and Mumbai on processes, the students in Bangalore worked on 6 projects and executed them. The 3 phases of the studio are analysis, processes and execution.
