Masterplan city center Bangalore, India

The project perimeter lies between M.G. Road and Shivajinagar Square. The Cubbon-Park is situated on the south-western side of Ulsoor Lake. The army, whose activities are minimal, owns this land. The idea of democracy should be that if the residents of Bangalore are paying taxes, then the government which is elected by the citizens should invest the tax money in spaces for the citizens themselves.

This is the chance to create a masterplan with activities for the people in the middle of Bangalore. The design proposal suggests a connection from Cubbon Park to Ulsoor Lake and a transformation of this region using a landscaped park. Shivajinagar forms an extension of the park through a residential district. Lined along the park are public utility buildings: a museum, a concert hall, a theater, a library, a shopping center, and a hotel. Small inter-connected pockets in the park offer opportunities for diverse activities like yoga, music, performances, lectures and more. This way the central public area or Central Business District (CBD) of Bangalore offers a recreation area for all the residents and visitors alike.
