Samskruti City Complex Bangalore, India

The requirement from a builder was to develop an old age house for 120 persons. The question was the relevance and the need for such a building in a family-oriented society such as India.

The project was worked out in different layers and concepts. The size of the project expanded during the work process. The built area of 120,000 sqm, which is of a humongous scale, had various potential land uses. It comprises of a senior center, a hotel, business centers, shops, restaurant, offices and infrastructure services. The students worked on different concepts such as from a social perspective to understand the needs and spatial requirements for a senior center.

An environmental layer to weave different sustainable aspects of water, landscape, energy, and biodiversity were also integrated into the project. A lot of importance was given to the design strategy and its concepts.
